Acting
What is the definition of Acting? What is the job of the Actor? Through scene study and exercises students will explore point of view, subtext, meanings, actions, and objections — all tools of the actor — leading to truthful behavior and crafted characters.
Monologues
Discover the launching point of the piece, your acting object, your objective, and the action needed to achieve it? Transform rote audition pieces into emotionally alive and vibrant moments of acting.
Shakespeare
How does the actor marry truthful, contemporary behavior to classical verse? Learn how to decode iambic pentameter, how to play imagery and blank verse, and how to “take the audience along.”
Script Analysis
Anything you do not understand, you cannot act. Learn how to decode scripts, discern cause and effect, understand the playwright’s worldview, and answer the Whys of the script.
Dialects
Dialect creates character. Class and Culture determine rhythm, word order, and word choice. Once you understand this, the dialect adjustment is much easier to learn and retain.
